Safeguarding

Little Digmoor is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff and visitors. We promote a climate where children and adults feel confident about sharing any concerns which they may have about their own safety or the well-being of others. We aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children by protecting them from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

At Little Digmoor we have 3 Designated Safeguarding Leaders (DSL); Ms Houldsworth, Miss Schofield and Mrs Heaton. Our DSL’s have regular county-led safeguarding training every 2 years. Additionally, all staff at Little Digmoor have annual training, with on-going updates, on Keeping children safe in education – 2022.

Our school uses secure online safeguarding software, to record all concerns in relation to safeguarding. This software can be accessed by all staff using encrypted login details.

What to do if you have concerns about the safety of a child?
If you have any concerns regarding a child’s safety, no matter how small, you should report them our school DSL. If you believe a child is in immediate danger you should contact 999.

Operation Encompass
Little Digmoor is proud to be a part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between police and schools, offering immediate support for children experiencing domestic abuse. Operation Encompass ensures that information is shared with a school’s Key Adult (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident. This sharing of information enables appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
